ROEHAMPTON CUP FINAL – 2025 EVENT PREVIEW

Ham Polo Club is the place to be for a quintessential British summer’s day out at the Roehampton Cup Final. The club is proud to present the final of the Roehampton Cup, the oldest polo trophy in the United Kingdom. Taking place on Sunday 24 August it’s the jewel of London’s polo scene and holds a special place in the heart of the sport.

The Roehampton Cup brings some of the best polo of the season to Ham. It’s a historic tournament which is played as part of HPA 6-goal Victor Ludorum. First played for in 1902, the Cup has long been a cornerstone of the London polo season. Originally held at the nearby Roehampton Club, once one of the capital’s premier polo clubs, it quickly became a highlight of the sporting calendar.

Since its inception the Roehampton Cup has been a stylish affair, as much as it has been a sporting one. In 1911 the Tigers, a team led by Jean de Madre de Loos, wore pure silk shirts with hand-embroidered gold threading while riding a series of matching horses for each of the chukkas. A stylistic way to win for sure.

In this spirit of sporting elegance, guests are invited to enjoy a day of competition off the field. Alongside the exhilarating final, we will host a Best Picnic and Best Dressed competition. This will be judged at the half of the Final.

So, dust off the hat, bring out the linens and fine china, and join us in celebrating another year of London polo. Prizes await those who best capture the spirit of the day!

🎟️ Tickets (now off sale) must be purchased in advance. They are on sale via the ‘Get Tickets link. A 30% discount automatically applies. Select ‘Sunday 24 August’. Then choose from a *Picnic Ticket or Clubhouse Day Pass.

* Picnic Ticket holders are advised to bring their own blankets/seats.

Timings

🗝️ Gates open at 11am.

🏇 Final starts at 12.30pm.

Travel

🚗 By car: Take the A307 (Petersham Road) from Richmond or Kingston. The entrance is directly opposite the Fox & Duck Pub—follow the Club signage and take the road to the left of the gatehouse. Parking is free.

🚊 By public transport: Take the South Western Railway or District Line to Richmond Station, then catch bus 65 or 371 to Sandpits Road. The grounds are approximately a 10-minute walk from there.
