🏉 Rugby league meets the City of London as Capital Challenge returns for 2020 with this annual match between London Skolars and Wigan Warriors. Kick-off is at 2.15pm with tickets on the gate available at £20. Tickets in advance available until midnight on 16 January.
The stunning surroundings of the Honourable Artillery Company is the venue for the 16th annual Capital Challenge match this afternoon.
The Capital Challenge has become an iconic event in the Rugby League calendar and a firm favourite with the City of London’s finance professionals and their firms. The match is recognised as the official start of the London Rugby League season.
Once again, the fixture will see London Skolars face a Wigan Warriors XIII at the Honourable Artillery Company (HAC) ground. Wigan, who were recently crowed Betfred Super League Grand Final winners following a thrilling clash with Warrington Wolves, are one of the most storied clubs in Rugby League history. On top of their Grand Final triumph, the Warriors have recently won the 2017 World Club Challenge as well as a rare double in 2013, when they claimed both the Super League Grand Final and Challenge Cup Final titles.
Wigan Warriors are arguably the world’s most recognisable Rugby League brand. An illustrious club with a trophy-laden history, Wigan have undertaken the role of pioneers within Rugby League by investing resources and personnel in all corners of the country. In particular, Wigan’s owner Ian Lenagan has been a vocal supporter of Rugby League in London.
Rugby League is not played on a more iconic or valuable sporting venue than the Honourable Artillery Company. The HAC is a 5-minute walk from Moorgate and the heart of London’s financial district. Standard tickets are typically sold out in advance. 300 hospitality guests typically sit down for a terrific pre-match meal with rugby legends as guests of honour.
For corporate hospitality, sponsorship and non-match ticket enquiries, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org or call the office on 0208 888 8488. Hospitality includes a three-course meal as well as wine and coffees. The guest of honour has been confirmed as Rugby League legend Barrie McDermott.
