A new chapter in rugby league history will be written this afternoon as the Men’s Challenge Cup Final returns to Wembley with the Women’s Challenge Cup Final once again featuring as part of rugby league’s traditional showpiece occasion. And bringing up the silverware hat-trick the day also incorporates the AB Sundecks 1895 Cup Final. Challenge Cup final tickets are on sale now.
2025 PREVIEW
The 2025 Challenge Cup men’s first round action started in January with the Championship clubs joining the competition at the third round stage. The Super League sides enter the fray in round six followed by the quarter-finals and semi-finals. Eight rounds of matches decide who takes to the hallowed Wembley Stadium turf this afternoon at 3pm.
The two Challenge Cup Finals take centre stage today with the women’s final at 11.45am preceding the men’s. St Helen are the current women’s cup holders. Wigan Warriors are the men’s cup holders.
Alongside the 1895 Cup Final rounds off proceedings at 5.45pm. First introduced in 2019, the 1895 Cup is a knockout competition for sides outside of the Super League.

2024 & 2023 REVIEW
CONGRATULATIONS to Wigan Warriors who beat Warrington Wolves 18-8 to win the 2024 Challenge Cup. Bevan French was named man-of-the-match. In the Women’s Challenge Cup Final Leeds Rhinos had no answer to St Helens who racked up a fourth straight win courtesy of a 22-0 scoreline. Their third in a row over the Rhinos. In the 1895 Cup Final Wakefield Trinity lifted the trophy after a victory over Sheffield Eagles.
In 2023 Leigh Leopards beat Hull KR by golden point to claim the Challenge Cup title in a dramatic match that will live long in the memory. Lachlan Lam, son of Leigh head coach Adrian, kicked the winning point in extra time (see below for match highlights). Earlier in the day St Helens beat Leeds Rhinos 22-8 in the first-ever Women’s Challenge Cup final staged at Wembley. The Saints third win in a row in the competition. Rounding the day off Halifax Panthers claimed the narrowest of victories in the 1895 Cup Final.
