A new chapter in rugby league history will be written this afternoon as the Men’s Challenge Cup Final returns to Wembley with the Women’s Challenge Cup Final once again featuring as part of rugby league’s traditional showpiece occasion. Challenge Cup final tickets are on sale now.
2026 PREVIEW
The 2026 Road to Wembley in the Challenge Cup will start early in the new year with the opening rounds contested by clubs and teams from the community game, before the Super League clubs join the competition in the third round in early February. A seeded draw will ensure a range of giant-killing opportunities.
The two Challenge Cup Finals take centre stage on the hallowed Wembley Stadium turf on Saturday 30 May. The women’s final is at 11.45am followed by the men’s final at 3pm. Wigan Warriors are the defending women’s cup holders. Hull KR are the defending men’s cup holders.

2025, 2024 & 2023 REVIEW
CONGRATULATIONS TO THE 2025 WINNERS! Hull KR ended a 45-year wait for Challenge Cup glory defeating Warrington Wolves 8-6 in the men’s Challenge Cup final. A dramatic late Tom Davies try, converted by Mikey Lewis, was the difference between the sides. In the women’s Challenge Cup final, Wigan Warriors were unstoppable running in seven tries to demolish St Helens 42-6. Meanwhile the 1895 Cup Final saw York Knights lift the trophy after they beat Featherstone Rovers 5-4. A golden-point in extra time was the difference between the sides after the game finished 4-4 after 80 minutes.
In 2024, Wigan Warriors beat Warrington Wolves 18-8 to win the 2024 Challenge Cup. Bevan French was named man-of-the-match. In the Women’s Challenge Cup Final Leeds Rhinos had no answer to St Helens who racked up a fourth straight win courtesy of a 22-0 scoreline. Their third in a row over the Rhinos. In the 1895 Cup Final Wakefield Trinity lifted the trophy after a victory over Sheffield Eagles.
In 2023 Leigh Leopards beat Hull KR by golden point to claim the Challenge Cup title in a dramatic match that will live long in the memory. Lachlan Lam, son of Leigh head coach Adrian, kicked the winning point in extra time (see below for match highlights). Earlier in the day St Helens beat Leeds Rhinos 22-8 in the first-ever Women’s Challenge Cup final staged at Wembley. The Saints third win in a row in the competition. Rounding the day off Halifax Panthers claimed the narrowest of victories in the 1895 Cup Final.
