2025 MATCH PREVIEWS
Australia visit Allianz Stadium for the opening fixture of the Autumn Nations Series on Saturday 1 November. The Wallabies secured a thrilling 37-42 victory over England during their last trip to London in 2024 (see below). The hosts will have revenge on their minds in 2025.
Fiji Rugby are the visitors on Saturday 8 November. Fiji, who secured their first ever win over England in their last visit to Allianz Stadium in 2023, lifted the 2024 Pacific Nations Cup in September of 2024. They secured victories over Japan, Samoa, USA and Tonga on their way to the title.
The All Blacks return to the home of English rugby on Saturday 15 November. Just two points separated the teams when they met in last year’s Autumn Nations Series. New Zealand winning a memorable match 24-22. Another exciting clash between the sides is on the cards.
Argentina conclude the series with a journey to south-west London on Sunday 23 November. Los Pumas and England last met at the 2023 Rugby World Cup, clashing twice. Once in the group stages and then in the bronze medal final. England came out on top on both occasions.
“We look forward to welcoming Australia, Fiji, New Zealand and Argentina to Allianz Stadium in November,” said Steve Borthwick, England men’s head coach.
“These four matches offer a valuable opportunity for our squad to face different styles of rugby as we continue to develop. The atmosphere at Allianz Stadium is always electric, and I know the players truly love every opportunity to represent our country at such a fantastic venue.”
2024 REVIEW – PART 1
On Saturday 2 November it was so near yet so far against New Zealand in the Autumn Nations Series opener. An exhilarating match ended 24-22 in favour of the All Blacks after England had led 22-14 heading into the final 10 minutes of the match. The hosts surged back to take the lead courtesy of a Mark Tele’a try in the 76th-minute. Still England had a chance to snatch victory, only for George Ford’s penalty to hit a post and then in the final play of the match Ford’s drop-goal effort drifted agonisingly wide.
England then faced a revitalised Australia side in a rugby Test match for the ages on Saturday 9 November. After the lead had changed hands a number of times it looked like England had seized the initiative courtesy of a Maro Itoje try in the 78th minute. But the visitors had not read the script. With the clock on 80 minutes, Max Jorgensen delivered a dagger blow of a try as Australia claimed a famous 42-37 victory in the latest edition of one of the oldest and biggest rivalries in world sport.
2024 REVIEW – PART 2
On Saturday 16 November South Africa came to Twickenham primed and ready after they came through a tough test at Murrayfield. England raced into a 7-0 lead only for the world champions to bounce back and lead 19-17 at the break. The sides shared five tries between them in a breathless first half. Into the second half it was a tale of too many errors for England as the Boks gradually took control and stretched their lead to 29-20 come the final whistle. And for the third time in a row it was a case of what might have been at England Rugby HQ.
England rounded off their 2024 Autumn Nations Series campaign with a much-needed win against Japan England inflicted a nine-try masterclass on Eddie Jones’ Japan side who were demolished by 59 points to 14 at England Rugby HQ. The Brave Blossoms had no answer to the hosts dynamic rugby.
