The stage is set in TW2 for the latest chapter in the storied history of the Barbarians as their men’s and women’s sides take on Wales on Saturday 27 June. Barbarians v Wales tickets are on sale now.
It’s the first time since November 2023 that the Barbarians and Wales have met. On that occasion Wales won 49-26 on home soil, with the teams sharing 11 tries between them.
The Barbarians are returning to the capital after their match against an All Blacks XV at the Gtech Community Stadium back in November. A lively encounter ended 33-19 in favour of the All Blacks, who battled back after the Barbarians raced into a 19-0 lead.
For the Welsh men the match is part of their preparation for the inaugural Nations Championship which starts in July. Wales are set to face South Hemisphere sides Fiji, Argentina and South Africa over consecutive weeks.
“Playing against the Barbarians is always a very special occasion,” said Wales men’s head coach Steve Tandy. “They play with freedom and creativity and bring together some of the best players in the world. This is a game that will be an important part of our preparation as we gear up for the Nations Championship and will offer up some exciting action for fans.”
Wales women are due to complete their Six Nations campaign in May and will be looking forward to the WXV Global Series in September and October.
“The Baa-baas are a key part of rugby’s culture and history and have the ability to attract world class talent ,” said Wales women’s head coach Sean Lynn. “We are delighted to have the opportunity to play them at the home of rugby.”
