An eagerly anticipated encounter in the BT Premiership as the top two sides in the league lock horns at Malleny Park. Kick-off for Currie Chieftains v Melrose is 2.30pm with admission on the gate.
Currie Chieftains have been nothing if not exciting this season with any match involving the Edinburgh side likely to serve up a hatful of points. And while the Chieftains took their supporters on a rollercoaster ride in the first part of the season three wins in their last four matches – since an agonising 14-15 home reverse to Heriot’s at the end of November – has seen Currie Chieftains climb the table into second place on 44 points.
This time last week Melrose were a rugby juggernaut on a mission to go through the league season undefeated. However the wheels came off last Saturday – at least temporarily – as Ayr came calling at Greenyards and dished out a first league defeat to the Borders side. And while Melrose were being beaten 20-12 on home soil their hosts this afternoon were enjoying an Edinburgh derby against Boroughmuir that ended 40-7 in favour of Currie Chieftains.
It’s all set up for a potential thriller at Malleny Park. Will Currie Chieftains make it back-to-back defeats for Melrose, or will the league leaders take the spoils in Edinburgh?
Kick-off is at 2.30pm.
Admission is on the gate and cash only: Adults £12/Concessions £8/Under 16s free.
