BT Premiership. A key match in the race for the play-offs as Currie RFC in fifth welcome third-placed Glasgow Hawks to Malleny Park this afternoon. Kick-off is at 3pm with admission on the gate.
Currie RFC did not have a match last weekend – their away fixture at Boroughmuir postponed due to an unplayable pitch – but that didn’t stop it being a good weekend for the Malleny Park side with play-off rivals and defending champions Heriot’s losing narrowly at home to Melrose. And with today’s opponents Glasgow Hawks also losing – a 36-7 reverse to Ayr seeing the west coast team maintain their spot at the top of the table – Currie RFC will see this as a great time to play the Hawks who do not have the incentive of being able to improve on their current position of third in the league.
It’s all set for a nail-biter this afternoon. If Currie RFC win this afternoon then victory over Boroughmuir on the final day of the regular season will ensure they make the play-offs, regardless of what Heriot’s achieve in their match at Stirling County today.
Previous meetings: Back in October Currie RFC won a thriller at Old Anniesland by 32 points to 31. Will it be repeat or revenge this afternoon? All roads lead to Malleny Park to find out!
Kick-off is at 3pm.
Admission is cash on the gate priced: £12 adults. Concessions £6 = over 60s. Under 18s free. Members also free on production of their membership card.
