Big Game 15 ~ Harlequins v Gloucester

🏉 Big Game is back with a bang as Harlequins women’s and men’s teams welcome Gloucester to Twickenham Stadium for a double-header special.

CONGRATULATIONS to Harlequins women who broke the world record for a women’s club rugby match attendance with 16,327 supporters watching on at Twickenham Stadium as they took on Gloucester Hartpury.  The crowd were treated to a superb encounter.  Gloucester raced to a 26-0 lead before Harlequins fought back to within one score.  But it wasn’t to be Gloucester closed out the match to win 31-19.  In the men’s match Harlequins proved too strong for their Gloucester counterparts.  With fly-half Marcus Smith pulling the strings, the hosts ran out 32-26 winners at the home of English rugby.  Stay tuned here for news of 2024 Harlequins Big Game tickets!

South-west London is the place to be this afternoon for the Harlequins Big Game 15 at the home of English rugby

At Big Game 14, Harlequins men hammered their Exeter Chiefs counterparts 40-5 at Twickenham Stadium with England star Marcus Smith pulling the strings for the Quins.  Meanwhile Exeter Chiefs women provide too strong for Harlequins women inflicting a 54-25 defeat with Claudia MacDonald and Kate Zackary scoring two tries apiece. 

Now Big Game returns in its rightful place during the Christmas break and a festive spectacular is in store including blockbuster rugby, world-class entertainment and fun for all the family at the home of English Rugby.

MATCH PREVIEWS

At 2.30pm it’s Harlequins Women v Gloucester Hartpury in a mouthwatering clash that pits the Londoners against the champions Gloucester-Hartpury. 

Harlequins are aiming to attract another world record-breaking crowd for a women’s club rugby match and to break the record set at Big Game 14.  The target is to attract more than 20,000 supporters to HQ to watch Quins go head-to-head with one of the best sides in the league.

This is a hugely exciting moment for women’s rugby.  The inaugural season of the Women’s Premiership follows the success of the Red Roses in the Rugby World Cup and in the 6 Nations.    

At 5.30pm it’s Harlequins v Gloucester for a men’s match that always provides fireworks.  Harlequins have won the last two home fixtures in the Premiership, between the sides.  These include a 28-24 nailbiter the last time the sides met at Twickenham Stadium at the first Big Summer Kick-Off.

DJ Joel Corry is the headline music act to performing shortly before kick-off.  Previous Harlequins Twickenham events have seen global DJs Pete Tong and Faithless perform.  As well as the legendary Craig David and Kaiser Chiefs.

The West Fan Village has loads of food and drink options.  There will also be free fairground rides and activities for all the family to enjoy.  Big Game delivers the perfect festive day out for friends and family alike.
