The Championship season draws to a close at Richmond Athletic Ground with a showdown between old rivals London Scottish and Richmond Rugby. Kick off is at 3pm and tickets are available online and on the gate.
Already one of the biggest matches of the season at Richmond Athletic Ground today’s encounter between London Scottish and Richmond Rugby has some added spice notwithstanding the fact Richmond were relegated last weekend while London Scottish are out of the running for the end of season play-offs.
Up until last weekend Richmond Rugby were clinging on desperately to survival in the Greene King IPA Championship. Defeat to London Irish would not have ended all hope but the for the fact today’s opponents (and the team with whom they share the Athletic ground with) London Scottish lost to 43-22 on the road to Hartpury RFC to condemn Richmond to relegation and life in National League 1 next season.
This afternoon may be the last time these two sides face each other in league action for a while. You can be sure both will want to claim bragging rights.
Previous meeting: In Round 1. The opening game of the season ended in a 24-19 win to Richmond Rugby.
