Cricket. 2015 ICC World T20 Qualifiers

Scotland v Canada

Scotland continue their quest for a place in next year’s Twenty20 World Cup, as the take on Canada at Goldenacre in their penultimate match in the group stages.

The ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier 2015 is a 14-team qualifying tournament taking place from 9 July to 26 July in Scotland and Ireland.  18 days of action will decide the top six sides that will join the 10 ICC full members for the ICC World Twenty20 India 2016.

Scotland are hosting the qualifying tournament’s Pool B, with Afghanistan, the United Arab Emirates, Netherlands, Canada, Kenya and Oman competing in a round-robin contest.  Pool A is made up of Hong Kong, Ireland, Jersey, Namibia, Nepal, Papua New Guinea and United States.  The winners of each pool are guaranteed selection with the teams finishing in second, third and fourth in each pool fighting for the remaining four places via a series of play-offs.

Scotland have already played UAE, Netherlands, Afghanistan and Kenya at The Grange, so the all-important Pool B standings will clearly determine what Scotland need to achieve out of today’s game.  The match is 20-overs-a-side and will last around three hours.  Stand by for a day of guaranteed excitement as all the teams strive for a win that will move them closer to either automatic qualification or a play-off place.

Gates open at 9am for a 10am start.  Admission on the day: free entry all spectators!

Scotland’s final match in Pool B will also take place at Goldenacre on Saturday, once again with a 10am start and free entry for spectators.
