Hockey. Scotland Men v Wales Men.

Scotland v Czech Republic

The 3-match series between Scotland and Czech Republic continues at the Glasgow National Hockey Centre with another double-header of international action starting at 1pm.

The men are first on in the second match of their 3-match series against the Czechs.   The ‘Scottish Blue Sticks’ were made to fight hard by the Welsh last weekend, eventually prevailing by a winning total of two matches to nil in the 3-match series, the first match having ended in a draw.

This weekend’s opponents the Czechs have a world ranking of 23 compared to Scotland’s ranking of 27, hence it’s a series that promises to be very competitive.  Both teams will be using the encounter as part of their continuing preparations for the upcoming EuroHockey Championship II, taking place in Prague in July.

The women take centre stage at 3pm.  The home team are favourites for this series boasting a world ranking of 17 versus the visitors 35.  Scotland’s women will be looking for a confidence boosting series victory as they continue to build up to the  EuroHockey Nations Championship at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, London, taking place in August.

Last but not least today there’s a bonus at 5pm with an U18 match between Scotland v England Men.

Admission is on the day.  Spectators are invited to make a discretionary cash donation to Scottish Hockey to cover the costs of entry for all three matches..

The final matches in the Scotland v Czech Republic series take place at 9am and 11am – men’s match followed by women – tomorrow (Sunday) morning.

Visit the Scottish Hockey FAQs page for their complete spectator guide to the festival.
