Scotland XI v MCC

The match between a Scotland select eleven and MCC (Marylebone Cricket Club) reaches a conclusion today with both teams looking to secure a victory on the third and final day at Titwood, Clydesdale.

The home side field a number of players from Scotland’s ICC World T20 campaign, with captain Preston Mommsen leading a side with a good mix of experience and youth.  Two members of the Scotland Under-19 side who recently won qualification for the 2016 u19 World Cup earn a taste of senior experience, with leg-spinner Harris Aslam and seamer Scott Cameron given an opportunity.

There is also an opportunity for Hampshire’s Bradley Wheal, 18, to don the Thistle for the first time. Wheal, who’s mother was born in Glasgow, is eager to push his case forward for full Scotland selection, while Ruaidhri Smith will take a break from his Glamorgan commitments to join the squad.

Scotland coach Grant Bradburn said, “On the back of a successful World T20 Qualifier and series against Nepal, the squad are looking forward to getting back on to the field together as we build towards an important series v Netherlands away in September. We welcome a number of new faces who have earned an opportunity for this fixture v MCC.”
