The Scottish Basketball Championships return for 2016/2017 with the opening round of matches at Oriam, the new National Performance Centre for Sport in Scotland.
Scotland’s top teams from across the country are set for another year of exciting competition and the season starts today with all 12 Senior Women sides in action.
Edinburgh University will get proceedings underway as they begin their title defence against South Lanarkshire Colliers at 11am while Polonia Phoenix take on league debutantes Glasgow University at the same time.
St Andrews University will take on Sony Centre Fury while Lady Rocks take on Tayside Musketeers with both games scheduled to tip-off at 1pm.
In the final set of games, City of Edinburgh will make the short journey to the West of the Capital to take on league new-comers Glasgow Fever at 3pm. St Mirren West College Scotland and Boroughmuir Blaze will also play at 3pm.
Competitions and Events Manager at basketballscotland, Graham Shaw is looking forward to another action-packed season of Scottish Basketball: “By having all 12 of the Senior Women’s teams compete in one venue on the opening day of the season, it provides an exciting opportunity for the Scottish basketball community to mark the opening of our sport’s new National Performance Centre while also re-enforcing the importance of Women’s basketball in Scotland.”
First match at 11am.
Admission is free for spectators for all matches, tickets are not required.
