Irvine, Ayrshire, is the venue for nearly 150 of Scotland’s best time trial riders this morning as they battle it out against the clock to become the Scottish Cycling National 25 Mile Time Trial Champion.
The riders are expected to set some extremely fast times on the course which follows the A78 and A71, starting and finishing at the race event HQ, Bioforce UK, Riverside Business Park, Irvine.
Among the riders to look out for in the women’s race is the recently crowned 2015 Scottish Cycling National Olympic Time Trial Champion, Glasgow’s Lynsey Curran (pictured) racing for Dooleys-Cycles.co.uk. In the men’s race 2014 reigning champion Iain Grant (Fullarton Wheelers) is the man to beat – Glasgow based cyclist Grant is not only the 2014 25 Mile Champion, a title he has held since 2012, he also recently won the Scottish Cycling 10 mile Time Trial Championships which took place in Bishopton.
The women are due off first at one minute intervals from 9am with No.1 seed Lynsey Curran due out last at 9.36am. They are followed by the men from 9.40am with reigning champion Iain Grant last off the starting platform at 11.49am. The start and finish area is at the event HQ in Riverside Business Park.
