Karate looks set to take over the capital this weekend as athletes from all over Europe descend on Meadowbank Sports Centre for the Scottish International Open Karate Championships.
Competitors from Scotland, England, Denmark, Holland, Ireland, Wales, Finland and Malta are among those in action throughout the day to give a distinctly international flavour to a Scottish Karate event that promises to showcase top-class karate at its best.
There are titles at stake in both Kumite (fighting) and Kata (form) with age groups from 14 years all the way to senior level. Check out the Scottish Karate website for a full rundown of the competitions taking place throughout the day.
