The Royal Commonwealth Pool in Edinburgh is the venue for the Scottish National Diving Championships from 1st to 4th December. Day 1 of the action from 6pm features synchronised action in the 3 metre springboard and platform competitions.
British diving is on a high following the Rio Olympics where Team GB’s Jack Laugher led the way with a diving double taking synchronised gold and individual silver in the 3m springboard events. Laugher was joined in the medals by Chris Mears, Tom Daley and Dan Goodfellow. And history was made in the women’s competition when Edinburgh’s Grace Reid produced the best British female diving performance in the 3m individual springboard for 56 years finishing eighth in the Olympic final.
The Scottish National & Open Diving Championships and Thistle Trophy are the highlight of the competitive diving calendar in Scotland, and with open competition featuring divers from across Britain it’s a great opportunity to watch the next crop of stars coming through in the lead up to the 2018 Commonwealth Games.
The event is unique in that a novice Championships (Thistle Trophy) runs alongside a National Championships with the Thistle Trophy being awarded to the team that accumulates the most points over the meet.
So come along and watch Scotland’s best diving talent compete for national honours! And don’t forget you can support the event on social media under the hashtag #ScottishDiving16
