The stage is set at the Emirates Arena for the opening day of the Scottish Open Snooker.  Stand by for seven days of world-class snooker with 128 competitors battling it out on the baize for the £70,000 top prize.  Tickets are available for today’s Round 1 action.

Snooker’s top players are back at the Emirates Arena in Glasgow this week for the Scottish Open Snooker.

The inaugural world ranking tournament took place last year and it was Marco Fu who captured the Stephen Hendry Trophy by beating home favourite John Higgins (main picture) in the final.

This year’s event takes place between December 11-17 with 128 of the world’s best players contesting the title.

Top stars including Ronnie O’Sullivan, Neil Robertson, Judd Trump, Shaun Murphy and home favourites Higgins, Stephen Maguire, Alan McManus and Anthony McGill will be among the line-up.

The Scottish Open Snooker is the third of the season’s Home Nations series and carries a top prize of £70,000.

Four-time world champion Higgins said: “It was a great experience for me to get to the final last year, I got so much support and it was a brilliant week.  I was gutted to lose in the final but hopefully I can go one better next time.  The Emirates is a cracking venue and I’d love to see even more fans turning out this time to see the best players.”

Today’s action comprises of two sessions, a day session starting at 10am and evening session from 7pm.  Doors open 1 hour before each session.

Tickets in advance for the Scottish Open Snooker are available online via the ‘Get Tickets’ link or by calling 0141 353 8000.

Tickets on the day are available from the Emirates Arena box office.  All-day ticket: Adults £15.  Evening session: Adults £10/Concessions £8.
