INTRODUCTION

The Senior Open has attracted a who’s who of golfing legends over the years including the likes of eight-time Major Champion Tom Watson.  And the  2025 edition – taking place 23-27 July – promises to be no different.   Two-time Major Champion Bernhard Langer headlines a field including a total of 16 Major Champions, 18 Senior Major winners, over 30 Ryder Cup and Presidents Cup players and more than 100 winners from the DP World Tour and PGA TOUR.  Senior Open tickets are on sale now.

CHOI DEFENDS TITLE

Defending champion K.J. Choi will tee it up at Sunningdale as The Senior Open takes place at the famous Berkshire venue for the first time since 2021.  Choi made history last year at Carnoustie.  He became the first South Korean player to win a Senior Major Championship, finishing two strokes ahead of Richard Green on the famed Angus links.

The 54-year-old has enjoyed a stellar career.  He was the first Korean player to earn a PGA TOUR card, competing in his rookie season in 2000.  Choi went on to win eight times, including a PLAYERS Championship victory in 2011.

ONES TO WATCH

A big threat to Choi is the aforementioned Bernard Langer.  Earlier this year, the German competed in his 41st and final Master Tournament.  Langer is the most successful over-50s golfer in history with a record 12 Senior Major Championships and 47 victories on the PGA TOUR Champions to his name.

Also confirmed is three-time Major Champion Pádraig Harrington who will be joined by the likes of Thomas Bjørn, Ernie Els and Colin Montgomerie.  Montgomerie was the dominant force in European golf during the 1990s winning seven consecutive Order of Merits from 1993 to 1999.  Els is a former world number one and four-time Major Champion.  Bjørn is Denmark’s most successful golfer in history winning 15 times on the DP World Tour.  He also captained Europe to victory at the 2018 Ryder Cup at Le Golf National.

Other multiple Major winners taking part include José María Olazábal, Retief Goosen and Angel Cabrera.  They are joined by international Major winners such as Rich Beem, Michael Campbell, Stewart Cink, David Duval, Justin Leonard, Shaun Micheel, Corey Pavin (who also captained the United States at the 2010 Ryder Cup), Justin Leonard and Y.E. Yang.

It promises to be a memorable edition of the tournament.  Get your Senior Open tickets to see the 2025 action unfold live on the Old Course fairways at Sunningdale!
