2016 Celtic Society Cup Final: Kyles Athletic v Inveraray

Kyles Athletic face Inveraray at Taynuilt in the 112th final of the Gregor Cameron Consultancy Celtic Society Cup.

Kyles Athletic (pictured) have a superb pedigree in shinty’s oldest competition first played in 1879.  The team from Tighnabruaichin hold the record for the most cups won, and have truimphed in the final four times out of the last five years, most recently a 4-2 victory over Oban Camanachd in the 2015 final.  Kyles’ route to the 2016 final has included another win over Oban, this time in the semi-finals, and a 12-0 annihilation of Bute when they met in the last eight.

Kyles from the Premiership will start as hot favourites to retain the cup, however opponents Inveraray cannot be dismissed after their impressive league form this year that has taken them top of the National Division.  Inveraray made it to through to the final with a 2-1 win over Glasgow Mid Argyll in the last four, having seen off Aberdour at the quarter-final stage.

A great afternoon is in store at Taynuilt with a beer tent, tea and coffee and cakes, BBQ and Indian takeaway offering a range of food and drink to accompany the shinty showdown on the pitch.

Throw up for the Celtic Society Cup Final is at 4pm.

Admission is on the day.  Adults £10/Concessions £5/Under 15s free with paying adult.
