Edinburgh Sports Club Open 2018

Finals day at the Edinburgh Sports Club Open 2018.  The biggest tournament on the BSPA calendar reaches its conclusion in both the men’s and women’s tournaments.  Finals from 3pm with admission on the door.

A feature event in the Scottish squash year the Edinburgh Sports Club Open 2018 has once again attracted some world-class talent.  Today’s action features the final in the men’s event and the final in the women’s event with the latter upgraded to a PSA $10k offering equal prize money to the men’s.

The women’s draw has a strong Egyptian flavour with Nadine Shahin and Nada Abbas seeded to contest the final, with Lisa Aitken (pictured below with fellow Scot Greg Lobban) leading the home charge.  Other players to look out for include Scotland’s Georgia Adderley (who takes on world junior champion Rowan Elaraby in tonight’s first round) while defending champion Julianne Courtice is seeded sixth.

Aitken said: “This event marks my one year anniversary back on tour and it’s great to do that on home soil and have the local support.

“It is double the prize money and now equal with the men which is fantastic and it’s brilliant to see our country help drive equal prize money in our sport.”
