SSE Scottish Women’s Cup semi-finals

Cup action is the name of the game at Forthbank Stadium in Stirling as the four teams remaining in the SSE Scottish Women’s Cup battle it out for a place in the final.  Matches start at 12 noon with admission on the gate.

Tension is guaranteed this afternoon with not one but two semi-finals to determine who will contest the Scottish Women’s Cup Final in November.

First up at 12 noon it’s Glasgow City v Forfar Farmington.  City are recently back from a midweek trip to Kazakhstan where they played BIIK-Kazygurt in the last 32 of the UEFA Women’s Champions League.  It’s possible the Glasgow players will still be feeling the effects of jet lag but otherwise it’s hard to see past them to take this tie, notwithstanding the fact that Forfar Farmington are riding high at the top of SWPL2 with only one league defeat in 17 matches.

The second semi is an all-SWPL1 showdown between Rangers and Hibernian.  Doubtless the Glasgow team will put up a fierce fight as the cup is their only chance of silverware this season, however Hibernian – currently duking it out with Glasgow City for the SWPL1 title – will start this one as favourites to progress.

The winners of today’s fixtures go through to the SSE Scottish Cup Final 2017 on Sunday 26th November at the Toni Macaroni Arena, Livingston.

Kick-off is at 12 noon for Glasgow City v Forfar Farmington, followed by Rangers v Hibernian at 3.30pm.

Admission is on the gate: Adults £5/Kids £2
