One of the highlight’s of the Fife summer season, the 33rd St Andrews Highland Games, takes place this afternoon at Station Park.  Tickets can be purchased at the gate on the day.

First held in 1984 the St Andrews Highland Games is now established as one of the must-visit fixtures – always on the last Sunday in July – on the Highland Games calender.  Running, heavy weights, tug-o-war, solo piping and Highland Dancing all feature as part of a great day of family entertainment.

Highland Dancing takes place from 10.30am with the Pipe Band entering the Games arena at 1pm followed by events throughout the afternoon.  Tossing the Cabar at 4pm is guaranteed to be one of the crowd favourites and there are a bumper 33 events in total up until around 5pm with the De’il Tak the Hindmost (Cycle) bringing the action to a close.  This is the full order of events with approximate timings:-
