The Beach Volleyball Scotland Tour 2015 descends on Troon today for the Troon Championships, the sixth event of seven on the Scottish Tour.
As the tour reaches its climax all the players will be competing for victory and the best spots when it comes to the tour’s conclusion. National team squad players will be in attendance, including Jennifer Thom, Cathy Smy and London 2012 Olympian Joanne Morgan who are all in contention for selection to represent Scotland in September in the next round of the CEV Continental Cup in Greece alongside the team of Lynne Beattie and Mel Coutts. The Continental Cup is a stepping stone to qualification for the 2016 Rio Olympics.
Today’s event in Troon has both men’s and women’s competitions with teams competing in pairs against each other for glory. With admission free for all spectators it’s a great opportunity to watch some of the best players in Scotland in action. The final leg of this year’s tour is the Jets Open, taking place on the weekend of 22nd and 23rd August in Portobello Edinburgh.
