Women’s 2015 U19 Lacrosse World Championships

The Under 19 World Championships reach the Championship Bracket and Platinum Division stage, after the completion yesterday of the pool matches.

14 international teams are competing at Peffermill Playing Fields, University of Edinburgh, in the first Under 19 World Championships to be held in the UK.  The holders USA (who have won the trophy four years running) are favourites, with their main challenge expected to come from Australia who are perennial silver medallists.  Alongside England, Canada and Ireland are likely to challenge for medals, as are the Scottish team on home soil.

The action starts today at 9.30am with matches across the two pitches.  Scotland, with an impressive four wins out of five matches in the pool stages, are in the first match on Pitch 2 against Canada in the Championship Bracket.  They are followed by matches throughout the day between the remaining six teams who finished in the top eight after the pool stage (Australia v Japan, USA v New Zealand and England v Wales), while the Platinum Division for the bottom six sides takes place on Pitch 1.
