Team USA have Olympic glory on their minds as they prepare for the 2024 Games and a trip to Paris next month. And as a key part of their preparations are two showcase games in London this week. It’s the first time the USA have played in the capital since they claimed gold at the London 2012 Olympics. The senior national team for the USA will suit up against South Sudan followed by a showdown against Germany. USA Basketball Showcase London tickets are on sale.
Team USA v South Sudan ~ Saturday 20 July
South Sudan surprised many finishing as the top African team at the FIBA World Cup in September 2023. The team filled with refugees stamped their passport to the 2024 Olympics as a result. Their game against Team USA on the opening night of the American’s double-header in London is eagerly anticipated.
Team USA v Germany ~ Monday 20 July
48 hours after the South Sudan showdown attention will turn to an intriguing clash between the US and Germany. Germany are the world champions and had Team USA’s number when the teams met in the semi-finals of the FIBA World Cup back in the autumn. The match ended 113-111 with the German’s going on to beat Serbia 83-77 in a thrilling gold medal match.
