The Royal Commonwealth Pool in Edinburgh is the venue for the second of six rounds of matches in the preliminary phase of this year’s British Water Polo Championships.
Portobello and Bristol Central are two of the teams in a group of 4 that also includes London Polytechnic and Manchester. Each team will meet the other home and away over the next few months, with only the top two teams progressing to the finals in May in Lancaster, England.
After last weekend’s opening round of matches in which they found themselves on the wrong end of an 8-4 scoreline away to Manchester, Portobello will be itching to get a win under their belts tonight against Bristol. It promises to be a competitive match as Portobello gave a good account of themselves against Manchester, and haven’t built a long-standing reputation as one of the best water polo clubs in Britain by rolling over at the first sign of trouble.
The match starts at 8pm tonight. Tickets are available on the door: Adults £2/Concessions £1.
Portobello’s next home match is in 3 week’s time – an Edinburgh v London encounter as Portobello entertain London Polytechnic on Saturday 21st February.
