Hearts v Hamilton Academical

Hearts and Hamilton met last Sunday in the SWPL 2 and today they meet in the Scottish Women’s Cup in what promises to be another intriguing game.

These are two sides fighting for the SWPL 2 title and are currently holding in second and third position, although Hamilton has fallen behind recently.  Last Sunday, the two sides played out a tense game which was decided by a late penalty for Hearts meaning Hamilton has now lost two games in a row against title rivals, including the leaders Glasgow Girls.

Both teams are dangerous going forward, Hearts scoring 46 goals in the league with Hamilton scoring two more.  This will be third time these two sides have met so far this season, with Hearts winning both matches in the league.

In the first round of the Scottish Cup Hearts beat SWFL Second Division South side St Roch’s.  Hamilton had the harder tie against SWPL 1 side Spartans.  However after the game ended goalless after extra-time, Hamilton was victorious in the penalty shootout.

This will be a fantastic third round tie between two of the top SWPL 2 sides and a great one for the neutrals.
