Watford Grand Prix

🏅 The international athletics summer season continues with an array of top British middle-distance runners taking part at the Watford Grand Prix.  🎟️ See below for the latest ticket information.

The Watford Grand Prix is set to feature some of the country’s best 800m, 1500m and 5000m runners.  And now a Challenger event on the World Athletics Continental tour expect an international flavour to the athletes on show at Woodside Athletics Stadium.   

Watford is the second leg of the British Milers Club (BMC) Grand Prix season which starts in May at Sportcity, Manchester, and includes meetings in Loughborough University and Birmingham University ahead of the fifth and final leg Bury, Manchester on 10 August.

Tonight’s racing is part of a big summer of athletics in the capital, which includes the London Diamond League and Night of the 10k PBS.  All of which lead perfectly to the Paris Olympics later this summer, where the the most treasured gold medals in athletics will be up for grabs. 

ONES TO WATCH

In 2023, Marc Scott (a bronze medalist in the 3000m at the 2022 World Indoor Championships) and Emile Cairess (en route to a podium finish at the 2024 London Marathon) did battle in the M 3000m.  Rising stars Revee Walcott-Nolan and Georgia Bell went head-to-head in the W 1500m.  And Matthew Stonier won a stacked M 800m race in a time of 1:46.53.

WATFORD GRAND PRIX – TICKETS, TIMINGS & TRAVEL

🎟️ Tickets in advance for the Watford Grand Prix will be available from the BMC website here.  Advance purchases carry a discount.  

🎟️ Tickets on the day are expected to be £10 adults/Under 16s go free (based on 2023 prices).

🕒 Watford Grand Prix timetable – BMC races start from 5.30pm and will finish around 9.45pm

🚊🚗 Travel tips: If using public transport Garston Station is nearest railway station to the stadium.  Plan your journey using the Transport for London website.  If travelling by car from the west leave the M25 at Junction 19.  Head over the roundabout onto the A41 (direction: London and St Albans).  Turn left at next junction (about half mile) to follow A405 towards St Albans for 1½ miles.  Turn left at traffic lights (Harvester pub on far left corner) into Horseshoe Lane.  Woodside Stadium is on the left after less than ½ mile.
