🏅 The international athletics summer season continues on Saturday 12 July with an array of top British middle-distance runners set to take part in the 2025 Watford Grand Prix. Read on for a preview and the latest ticket information
The Watford Grand Prix will feature some of the country’s best 800m, 1500m, 5000m and 3000m steeplechase runners. And officially a Challenger event on the World Athletics Continental tour expect an international flavour to the athletes on show at Woodside Athletics Stadium.
Watford is the fourth of the British Milers Club (BMC) Grand Prix season which starts on 24 May in Bury and includes meetings at Birmingham University and Loughborough University ahead of the fifth and final leg in Trafford on 9 August. See below for the full schedule.
Tonight’s racing is part of a big year of athletics in the capital, which includes the London Marathon and London Diamond League. All of which is leading up to the 2025 World Athletics Championships in Tokyo in September, where GB stars will be on the hunt for global medals.
ONES TO WATCH
Previous competitors at the Watford Grand Prix have included Olympic bronze medallist Georgia Bell and fellow Olympian Revee Walcott-Nolan. The Team GB stars went head-to-head in the W 1500m in 2023. At the same event Marc Scott (a bronze medalist in the 3000m at the 2022 World Indoor Championships) and Emile Cairess (en route to a podium finish at the London Marathon) did battle in the M 3000m. And Matthew Stonier won a stacked M 800m race in a time of 1:46.53.

🎟️ Tickets in advance for the Watford Grand Prix will be available from the BMC website.
🎟️ Tickets on the day are expected to be £10 adults/Under 16s go free.
🕒 Watford Grand Prix timetable – BMC races start from 5.30pm and will finish around 9.45pm

🚊🚗 Travel tips: If using public transport Garston Station is nearest railway station to the stadium. Plan your journey using the Transport for London website. If travelling by car from the west leave the M25 at Junction 19. Head over the roundabout onto the A41 (direction: London and St Albans). Turn left at next junction (about half mile) to follow A405 towards St Albans for 1½ miles. Turn left at traffic lights (Harvester pub on far left corner) into Horseshoe Lane. Woodside Stadium is on the left after less than ½ mile.
