London Lions Women have raised the bar for UK women’s club basketball in recent years. The trailblazing side enjoyed unparalleled success on both the domestic and international stage. This reached a zenith when London Lions won the Women’s EuroCup in April 2024. After a quiet 2024/2025 campaign, the Londoners are on the search for silverware during the current 2025/2026 Super League Basketball (SLB) season. London Lions women tickets are on sale.
Heading into March, the Londoners are seventh in the SLB Championship table on 8 points. Today’s opponents Oaklands Wolves are in fourth place on 16 points. It’s congested in the bottom half of the table and London Lions can climb into mid-table and close the gap on the top four if they can beat the Wolves in N1 on Saturday 11 March.
2021 TO 2024
The 2021/2022 season saw the Lions complete a perfect 34-0 record in the WBBL and secure a clean sweep of WBBL Cup, Trophy, league and play-off silverware. In 2022/2023 they backed up that remarkable achievement by once again claiming a quadruple of domestic trophies. In doing so, London Lions confirming their status as the best ever side to play in the WBBL (pictured below).
Fast forward to 2023/2024 the Lions upped the ante. A extraordinary season saw Lions win all 14 of their domestic fixtures and become the first British club team to win a European competition. Turkish side Besiktas were then defeated in the second leg of the Women’s EuroCup. It was an extraordinary night of drama at the Copper Box Arena in April 2024. Heading into the match with a 7-point deficit from the first leg, the Lions turned things around to win 149-145 after Holly Winterburn had put the hosts in a winning position with just 12 seconds remaining.
2025/2026 SEASON AHEAD
Last season was a transitional season for London Lions after a change of ownership. Having steadied the ship and rebuilt their roster, the Lions are focused on domestic scene for the time being. Super League Basketball (SLB) started its new season in September and the regular season – featuring Trophy, Championship and Cup action – will run until late April. The SLB Women’s Championship reaches a conclusion with the Play-Off Finals taking place at The O2 on Sunday 17 May.
This season London Lions have a new home at New City College in Hackney. See below for how you can watch them live on home soil!
