The waiting is over for American Football fans.  Following the success of last year’s NFL London – which saw Atlanta Falcons and Jacksonville Jaguars beat New York Jets and Miami Dolphins by 27-20 and 23-20 respectively – the 2022 series returns to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for two games, part of a three-match itinerary in London incorporated within the NFL international series.

American Football has a history in the UK stretching back to the 1980s with the launch of NFL Europe.  That came to an end after 12 seasons, but not before sparking an interest in the sport leading to the international series in 2007.  The cue for a run of 13 years and 28 games played in front of packed houses up until 2019.

While 2020 saw a break in matches due to Covid, following last year’s success the NFL international series is back at the magnificent Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.  First up on Sunday 2 October the New Orleans Saints and Minnesota Vikings will each play in the UK for the third time, both teams having won on two previous occasions. For both sides it’s a debut appearance at Spurs home ground.

Then on Sunday 9 October the Green Bay Packers, NFC North champions for the third consecutive year, will face the New York Giants in their first international trip, becoming the 32nd NFL team to play in London since 2007.  The Giants will play in the UK for the third time, having won the inaugural London game at Wembley Stadium in 2007 and also the first game played at Twickenham Stadium in 2016.  It will be their first game at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The London action then shifts to Wembley Stadium on Sunday 30 October Jacksonville Jaguars returning to Wembley for the first time since 2019 – having played there for seven straight seasons – to face the Denver Broncos, who are making their first trip to the UK since they played at Wembley in 2010.
