SEASON SO FAR

Crystal palace can take some positives after losing 2-4 to Manchester City at Selhurst Park in the Premier League.  The Eagles remain fourteenth in the table.

Jean Phillipe-Mateta opened the scoring for Palace within the first few minutes, giving both Arsenal and Liverpool something to smile about as the title race heats up.  Nevertheless, midfield maestro Kevin De Bruyne levelled the scoring the for the visitors with an audacious finish into the top corner.  The hosts fought hard, but goals from Rico Lewis, Erling Haaland and another from De Bruyne sunk any hope of a historic victory in South London.  Despite this, Odsonne Edouard scored a consolation goal a few minutes before the full-time whistle sounded.  The biggest relief in the second-half for Oliver Glasner’s side was bringing on star winger Michael Olise, who has not played since early February.

Up next, Crystal Palace host West Ham United in the Premier League on Sunday 21 April. This London derby is always fierce.  And after the previous meeting ended in a stalemate both sides will be hoping to claim the bragging rights for this season.  Expect the noise levels to be high at a ground boasting one of the best atmospheres in the Premier League.

ONES TO WATCH

Attacking midfielder Eberechi Eze – who celebrated an England call up earlier this season – continues to shine for Crystal Palace as their main outlet, while flair winger Michael Olise has returned from injury and looks back to his best.  Rock-solid defender Joachim Andersen continues to solidify the heart of Palace’s defence.
