SEASON SO FAR
It’s been one step forward and two steps back for Manchester United during the opening stages of the 2024/2025 Premier League season. A 1-0 victory over Fulham on the opening day was followed by a 2-1 loss at Brighton & Hove Albion, ahead of a chastening 3-0 home defeat to arch rivals Liverpool. Manager Erik ten Hag remains in charge, while co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe must be scratching his head.
Into September, the Red Devils have back-to-back cup matches (against Barnsley and Twente in the Carabao Cup/UEFA League) prior to the visit of Spurs for a Premier League showdown on Sunday 29 September. In the corresponding fixture last season, the sides drew 2-2 with all four goals coming in the first 46 minutes. Expect more of the same!
ONES TO WATCH
New signing Joshua Zirkee is still finding his feet for the Red Devils after his debut goal against Fulham. The young Netherlands star could prove to be an integral part of United’s attack this season. Meanwhile much is expected of 2023/2024 Player of the Season Alejadro Garnacho by the Old Trafford faithful.
