SEASON SO FAR
Manchester United will feel delighted with their recent 2-2 draw in the Premier League against fierce rivals Liverpool at Old Trafford. The Red Devils remain sixth in the table.
A dent in the Reds title challenge was the aim for Erik ten Hag’s side on Sunday 7 April. And they completed the brief strongly. Luis Diaz fired Jurgen Klopp’s side ahead going into half-time, but a defensive mistake from the Reds saw Man Utd captain Bruno Fernandes level the scoring. It was a sublime finish from 40+ yards, despite it being a [nearly] empty net. Star boy Kobbie Mainoo put the hosts in the lead with an outstanding finish, seeing the momentum swing the hosts’ way. Nevertheless, a clumsy defensive United mistake saw Mohamed Salah blast home a penalty, levelling the scoring for the visitors. An entertaining draw with plenty of chances, the visitors will be hoping the stalemate hasn’t scuppered their title dreams.
Update: Saturday 27 April. A 1-1 draw at home to Burnley saw Man Utd remain in sixth place in the table. They are one point ahead of seventh-placed Newcastle in the race for European football next season.
