London Premier League Teams – Season recap

Arsenal, Spurs & Chelsea

It was so near yet so far for Arsenal who finished second, losing out to Man City in the title race by just two points.  They also made it to the quarter-finals of the Champions League.  It was an excellent season for Mikel Arteta’s side and Declan Rice proved to be a superb signing.  Expect the Gunners to be back even better when the new season starts in August.

Spurs ran out of steam towards the end of the campaign and missed out on Champions League football.  Ange Postecoglou’s team finished in fifth place, securing qualification for the Europa League.

Chelsea ended the season with an impressive winning streak to finish in sixth place.  They also secured European football.  Cole Palmer was outstanding for the Blues but there was drama when manager Mauricio Pochettino left the club shortly after their final game.

West Ham, Crystal Palace, Fulham & Brentford

West Ham faded in the spring and missed out on European football for the first time in three years.  A top-six finish had looked possible but the Hammers ended in ninth place.  The end of an era saw manager David Moyes leave the club.  His replacement Julen Lopetegui has some big boots to fill.

Crystal Palace finished like a train and ended the season in tenth.   Oliver Glasner has galvanised his side to play an exciting brand of football.  The future is bright with the likes of striker Jean-Philippe Mateta and Adam Wharton coming to the fore.

Fulham finished in thirteenth place.  Another solid season for Marco Silva’s side saw them consolidate their position in the top tier of English football.  They’ll look to push on to better things next season.

Brentford made it a clean sweep of London sides securing their status in the Premier League next season.  They finished in sixteenth place as manager Thomas Frank steadied the ship after they struggled at times.  The Bees go again next season as part of a magnificent seven clubs representing the capital in the Premier League!
