London Premier League Teams – Season so far
Arsenal, Chelsea, Fulham & Brentford
It was so near yet so far for Arsenal last season. They finished second, losing out to Man City in the title race by just two points. This campaign the Gunners are looking to go one better but Mikel Arteta’s side endured a poor run of form in February which has seen them lose ground on leaders Liverpool. Arsenal are currently in second place, 12 points adrift of Arnie Slot’s side.
Chelsea have flattered to deceive this season under new manager Enzo Maresca. But coming into the final straight they are much-improved. Cole Palmer has been outstanding for the Blue who at the time of writing are in fourth place on 49 points. Champions League football next season beckons if they can finish the campaign strongly.
Fulham are enjoying a positive 2024/2025 campaign playing some great football. Marco Silva’s side are in eighth place on 45 points. A top-six finish is a real possibility. The Cottagers are also into the quarter-finals of the FA Cup and have a home tie against Crystal Palace. Brentford finished last season in sixteenth place as manager Thomas Frank steadied the ship after they struggled at times. The Bees are going better this season. They are currently in tenth place, on 41 points, within striking distance of a clutch of teams above them.
West Ham, Crystal Palace & Spurs
Crystal Palace started this season with the brakes on, but three wins from four matches in the new year saw Oliver Glasner’s side climb the table. The Eagles are continuing to play well and head into April in twelfth place on 39 points.
Spurs’ season has been a poor one. Ange Postecoglou’s side have slid down the table and are in fourteenth place with 34 points. Knocked out of the Carabao Cup in the semi-finals, and out of the FA Cup, they still have a chance of silverware. A showdown with Eintracht Frankfurt in the quarter-finals of the Europa League awaits.
West Ham missed out on European football for the first time in three years in May. The end of an era saw manager David Moyes leave the club. His replacement Julen Lopetegui was subsequently sacked with Graham Potter now at the helm for the Hammers. They are in sixteenth place on 34 points.
